Energy Efficiency

What is Energy Efficiency?

Energy efficiency is the way we can reduce the amount of energy and associated costs to maintain the same energy service.

We can improve our energy efficiency by adopting:

  • More efficient technologies.
  • More efficient production processes.
  • Use commonly accepted ways to reduce energy losses in the way we live.
Why should we be energy efficient?
  • We can reduce our electricity and other fuel bills by using low energy appliances (e.g. LED lights and/or substituting alternative energy sources such as solar panels).
  • We can reduce our heating costs through improved energy efficiency in buildings (e.g. better insulation).
  • Reducing energy use, reduces carbon dioxide emissions and tackles climate change.
What can we do to improve the energy efficiency?
How to make energy-efficient houses?

If you’re serious about upgrading the comfort of your home then I’d suggest that you have an energy audit done with a professional.  Not only does serious energy efficiency require a whole lot of science and practical experience, it also means knowing tradespeople capable of providing quality work.  You may be able to carry that off if you are really interested in the subject, but for most of us a ‘pro’ is where it’s at!

A home energy audit should be the first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take, to make your home or your business more energy efficient. This should involve a physical inspection of your property, the use of appropriate tools like cameras, thermal imaging and blower door tests, and a software analysis of your home. An energy audit will show you any problems that may, when corrected, can potentially bring major benefits such as saving significant amounts of money over time.

Energy audit services are a key part of energy efficiency and a good first step to provide substantial, practical guidelines for:

  • Clear understanding of energy consumption in your buildings and home
  • Continuous improvement in property efficiency
  • Identifying cost saving opportunities in energy efficiency

Once the energy performance analysis is complete, we will propose some measures to improve the energy efficiency complete with projected economic savings associated. A good energy assessor will then suggest some solutions that are both sympathetic to your home and your budget.
